突然ですが、みなさんはスニーカーと言えば、どの様な素材で作られていることを思いつきますか？
レザー、ナイロン、メッシュ…などなど、思えばいろんな素材で出来ていますよね！
NIKEも1972年の創業から53年、これまでいろいろな素材が使用されたシューズが開発・誕生しました。
今回はその中でも変わり種の素材である「コルク」をベースに作られたモデルについて、ご紹介したいと思います！

◎NIKE初!! コルクが採用されたモデル
今から12年前の2013年、キャリア9年目にして初のNBAチャンピオンに輝いた、現役NBAプレーヤー「LEBRON JAMES」。
彼のシグネチャーモデル第10弾である「LEBRON 10」のNBA優勝記念モデルとして登場したのが、この「LEBRON 10 EXT "CORK"」でした。
優勝＝シャンパンファイト、というところからシャンパンの栓であるコルクをベース素材として製作され、これがNIKE初のコルク採用モデルとなりました。
当時からするとかなり革新的な1足で、スニーカー界で大きな話題に。
さらにその1年後にはNIKEのカスタマイズサービス「NIKE iD (現 NIKE BY YOU)」のAIR FORCE 1が、2年後には「LEBRON 12 "CORK"」が登場するなど、他のモデルにも展開していくことになります。

ここからはそんなコルクを採用したNIKEのモデルを数足ピックアップしてご紹介していきます！
1.DUNK HIGH PREMIUM SB（2015年）
LEBRON・AIR FORCE 1と続き、NIKE SBで初のコルク素材を採用したモデルとして登場しました。ブラックのスウェードとの組み合わせが大変秀逸です。
ちなみに後にも先にも、CORKがベースのSB DUNKはこれしか存在していないので、かなりレアです！
2.CLOT × DUNK LOW（2023年）
香港発のCLOT創立20周年を記念したDUNK LOW。
アッパー全面のコルクのインパクトはもちろんのこと、6種類の取り外し可能なスウッシュも付属するなど、記念モデルに相応しい特別感あふれる1足に仕上がっています。
3.AIR MAX 90（2015年）
AIR MAX 90の25周年を祝したアニバーサリーモデル。
全5種類が登場したうちの1足として、コルクモデルも発売されました。
ちなみに5種類とも違う素材で作られていますが、それぞれAIR MAX 90と言えばの「インフラレッドカラー」を基調にしています。
4.AIR FORCE 1 LOW "PINEAPPLE"（2020年）
夏のフルーツであるパイナップルをモチーフに、NIKEが取り組むサステナブルモデルとして、「再生素材」のコルクを使用した環境にも配慮されたAIR FORCE 1 です。
5.SB ZOOM STEFAN JANOSKI ELITE（2015年）
1で紹介したSB DUNKがNIKE SB初コルクでしたが、続いて登場したのがSTEFAN JANOSKIでした。
JANOSKIが掲げる「FOR DAILY USE」の通り、他のコルクシリーズのモデルよりもデザイン・シルエット的にも日常から履きやすいのが良いポイントかと思います！
